The name of the game is - mobile platform - part II

PDF Print E-mail
Written by Vedran Dakic

NokiaI've been thinking about this for a week or so and... I can't help but think that Nokia's Windows Phone move is a bad one for the company. So.... here it goes. Right now, key word isn't "tablet". Or "smartphone". Or UI, or copy-paste, or lack thereof. It's something else. It's "platform". The whole nine yards, the whole package. And the "we've got a service pack that's gonna add copy-paste" principle isn't gonna work here, as Microsoft found out last week...

AppleLife of a journalist is sometimes like a "kid in a candy store" metaphor in real life. Every time a promising new technology shows up, you kind of feel the need to say something about it. This time, we're gonna be discussing Thunderbolt, Intečl's technology that was talked about for years (Light Peak), and now got to see its first real implementation in new MacBook Pros. No wonder there, Apple has been pushing the envelope of industry on all sides in the past decade or so - business-wise, it's probably a match made in heaven. But what about the users and technology itself?

Microsoft announcing Kinect SDK for PC

PDF Print E-mail
Written by Hrvoje Jakovac

MicrosoftA very interesting turn of events - after claiming that they have no plans for releasing Kinect SDK but - it happened. The thing that's really important here - we're talking about PC SDK, that's - from the press release - intended for enthusiasts and academic people. This should be a "starter version", which will be followed by "commercial version" somewhere down the line in spring, with little or no info about what "starter", "commercial" "enthusiasts" and "academic" means.

Apple subscription model causes rage

PDF Print E-mail
Written by Vedran Dakic

Let's dissect what's going on here and try to offer some opinions.
